Summer To Fall Transition: Episode 2

This outfit features one of my favorite pieces of my wardrobe. When I want something casual, but still want some sparkle I grab this skirt from Express. I absolutely love it because I've styled this skirt about 50 different ways! It's awesome! For the second episode of Summer To Fall Transition, I paired a skirt with boots which is one of my favorite ways to blend summer pieces with fall pieces. You can never go wrong with a sequin skirt and motorcycle boots. It creates the perfect balance of girly and edgy.

Summer To Fall Transition: Episode 1

I don't know about you guys, but Texas hasn't gotten the memo that it's fall now. I'm actually still able to wear shorts! So with this, I decided to start a summer to fall transition series where I will post five outfits that I believe will help you during this crazy "not quite fall" weather transition. The pieces I wear in each post will be versatile and can be worn during any time of the year if appropriate. For Episode 1 of my series, I went with a classic look that is always a "go to" when I have nothing to wear. A loose, white blouse looks so chic with black, leather bottoms. Whether you want to wear a skirt or pants is totally up to you. I added some pointed-toe pumps to give the look a bit more umph.

Style 101: Get The Look

Okay, so I know ya'll saw Queen B last night on HBO? Well, if you didn't-you definitely missed out. While I was watching the show (with my mom), I fell in love with a particular costume she wore. It was the bride ensemble she wore during her performance of 'Resentment.' This was my favorite costume hands down! And of course, my mom mentions how the outfit would be perfect for a unique bridal shower/rehearsal dinner outfit (she's always on wedding mode...but whose mom isn't). Since most of us lack Beyonce's access to the top designers of the world, I created her look for a much tighter budget.

Here is Beyonce looking oh so flawless:

And here is my take on her outfit:
1. Devoted To You Blouse (the name is so fitting)

Style 101: My Top 5 Perfumes

Okay, let me tell you a little something about myself...I love to shop-obviously. But lately, I've been going through these phases where I'm obsessed with buying multiple items within a certain category. Sometimes it's shoes...more times than others, it's purses (if you couldn't already tell). Well, now, I've had this slight obsession with perfumes. My grandmother has always received compliments for her signature scent and of course her expensive habit was passed down to me. So, here are my favorite  scents of the moment. I'm more of a soft, floral (particular gardenia) kind of girl so all of these fragrances have gardenia undertones.

Style 101: Get The Look

I love Nikki Reed’s style! She’s so chic, relaxed yet sophisticated. And she does it so effortlessly. I mean, it doesn’t take much for her to look good anyway! I was browsing some celebrity sightings during the Parker on Spring event and I fell in love with Nikki Reed’s simple, yet fabulous ensemble. Houndstooth is always a classic but it’s a huge deal this fall! I’ve seen everything from the classic, houndstooth dress pants all the way to sequin, houndstooth jogger pants from Michael Kors. So with that said, houndstooth is a MUST this season! Here is Nikki’s look from earlier this week:

Her All Saints Reya Blazer alone is $468. I don’t know about you, but that’s a major splurge for me!

And here's the look for less:

Summer to Fall Transition Pieces

When you live in Texas-spring, summer, fall, and winter kind of all blend together. Some years I've had to bring out my trusty Ugg boots in September, and others-I was still wearing Nike athletic shorts in October. You just never know in Texas! I've put together a few pieces that will carry you through all seasons. Each of these pieces are versatile and can be worn in multiple variations!

Style 101: Now Trending-Draped Trench Coats

I foresee that trench coats, like always, are definitely a must have for the fall. But recently seen in London Fashion Week, designers are taking a new take on the classic trench. This piece from Alice Temperley (below) is amazing. Not only did she give the trench a unique, new color-pastel pink (which is also carrying over from the spring/summer into fall and winter) but she created a draped trench which is something I think is going to be huge this fall and winter. Here are some of my top favorite colorful, draped trenches!

New York Pick-Ups

While I was in New York, I HAD to make time for a little bit of shopping (like who passes up shopping in New York?!). During this trip, I took my first trip to the Flagship Macy's, which was full of adventure...I mean you can spend an entire day in a 9-story department store. I purchased these two dresses from Macy's. Dresses are probably my favorite clothing piece to buy because they're so versatile. You can throw on a denim jacket and Chuck Taylors for a casual look or go dressy with heels and an oversized clutch. The leopard print dress is from the Macy's MADE Fashion Week for Impulse Collection-catch it while it's on sale! The blue, floral dress is made by French Connection. Next to my favorite purchase from New York-this Rebecca Minkoff Love Cross-body (which may look a little familiar if you've checked out my previous NYC post). I bought this bag from Bloomingdales and I am absolutely obsessed! It reminds me so much of the oh-so popular Chanel Boy Bag. The strap is adjustable, so it can be worn as a cross-body or a shoulder bag depending on what mood I'm in. The leather is so soft and I think black hardware is going to be a major trend this fall/winter. Be on the lookout for how I style my new pieces!

Style 101: My Must Have Bags

Just when I thought I’d satisfied my purse addiction (at least for this year) with this Rebecca Minkoff Quilted Love Cross-body, I come across this beauty by Tory Burch. The Fleming Medium Bag has made my list of must have bags. It’s absolutely perfect with convertible straps that allow you to wear it as a cross-body or a shoulder bag-which is my favorite-hence why I love Rebecca Minkoff’s bags so much…anyway, back to the Fleming. It comes in so many colors, I can’t even decide which one is my favorite! And just because the logo is understated on this bag, it is still an eye-catching accessory. As a purse lover, I can’t just be in love with one! Here are more of my must haves:

My Style In The Big Apple

One of my absolute favorite places to visit is NYC! My mom and I decided to begin our annual tradition this year during New York Fashion Week and had an amazing time. Here are some of my looks from our trip!

This was our French inspired night. We started the evening at Cantine Parisienne. I had a shrimp dish and asparagus soup. Both were absolutely amazing. After dinner, we walked to Ladurée in Soho and enjoyed macchiatos, macaroons, sorbets, and tartes. Here are my outfit details:
Dress: Asos (now on sale)
Shoes: Steve Madden
Knee-High Socks: Forever 21
Purse: HYPE (old-similar here)

Probably one of the best days we had was spent in Central Park. We grabbed lunch from Fresh & Co (my new obsession) and ate lunch on the famous benches of Central Park. After, we took a Pedicab around the park and stopped by the fountain to take pictures. The weather was perfect and Central Park was beautiful as always. Click on the links below for outfit details.
Shirt: Old Navy
Jeans: H&M
Shoes: Sam Edelman (now on sale)
Purse: Rebecca Minkoff (so many colors on sale)
Necklace: Forever 21

Okay, so maybe I lied about Central Park being the best day of our trip....practically everyday was the best day! We did so much each day and on this day we decided to go see my favorite childhood book and movie on Broadway. My mom got us tickets to Matilda! I can't tell you how excited I was to see it in New York. I felt like such a big kid! Here's what I wore:
Dress: Forever 21
Shoes: Converse
Purse: Rebecca Minkoff
Lips: Sephora Cream Lip Stain (Always Red)

Here's what my beautiful mom wore:
Dress: Michael Kors (now on sale)
Sandals: Michael Kors (now on sale)
Purse: Zara

One of the highlights of our trip happened some of the ladies from Cosmopolitan Magazine stopped me to take my photo for a Juicy Couture contest. I was so excited, I forgot to take any photos of myself for this post! Here is the photo they took of me for their Instagram page. Click the links below for outfit details.
Dress: Topshop (sold out but here is a different pattern)
Shoes: Converse
Purse: Rebecca Minkoff
Necklace: Dogeared

Whoops! How could I forgot about meeting Robin Roberts at GMA! She was so sweet and stunning! New York has always been a favorite of ours to visit but this particular trip was definitely our favorite. We had so much fun on our girl's trip!
