Style 101: April Showers Bring May Flowers-Saying Yes To Rain Boots

Rain, rain go away-come again another day. Don’t be the one singing the weather blues this spring. When April showers come around, most people dread the idea of wearing rain boots or they’re willing to ruin their everyday shoe of choice. Don’t be afraid to try something different and give rain boots a try. Remember ladies, being fashionable doesn’t mean forgetting about functionality. Just because rain boots are functional and necessary in some cases, they don’t have to be an eyesore. There are tons of super trendy and chic rain boots that will complement your outfit whether you’re going to the office or having a casual weekend out and about.

As a lover of leopard print, there’s no way I could tell you about rain boots without showing you a pair with leopard print. I love these super affordable Target ‘Adara’ Rain Boots in Brown Leopard. The print is subtle, chic, and definitely a statement shoe. With these boots, you want to keep your outfit simple. I would wear these boots with a simple white v-neck (my weekend go-to piece) and dark denim. If I had these in my closet, I’d be doing the rain dance just to bring these sassy boots out.

I love the Steve Madden ‘Downpour’ Rain Boot! It’s edgy and right on trend with gold stud accents and buckle details. If it’s warm enough, these boots would go perfectly with a leather mini skirt or if it’s chilly, motorcycle denim is a must!

If you’re all about labels, try these Michael Kors ‘Logo Mid’ Rain Boot. The logo is subtle against the black patent boot and it’s totally affordable compared to popular Burberry and Gucci rain boots. The logo and color are simple enough to go with anything in your closet. And the boot is sophisticated enough to wear to the office! Don’t even worry about packing those heels in your purse with this chic rain boot. No change of shoes needed.

If you’re really into keeping up with current trends, this Ted Baker ‘Atiri’ Rain Boot is totally spring ready. With the oh so popular pastel trend, these mint beauties are girly, pretty, and fun. The boot also has a delicate floral pattern at the top of the boot that fades down the leg of the boot creating a floral ombré (which everyone seems to be obsessed with these days-myself included). Love the buckle detail that wraps around the ankle and harnesses around the bottom of the shoe. I would pair these boots with a flowy dress and denim jacket for a casual weekend out.

We all know that Hunter is basically the “it” boot to have in your closet! They’re functional and come in a variety of colors, but I tend not to buy simple products that I will see everyone wearing. Who doesn’t like a little individuality right? Well, I can’t deny that Hunter rain boots are a must have, but you don’t have to follow the fad. I found these Hunter ‘Sandhurst Carlyle’ rain boots that are different than the popular ‘Original’ collections. I love how elegant these rain boots look. They remind me of a pair of Vince Camuto two-tone riding boots. The dark ruby color reminds me of the trendy plum color that is still very popular this spring. These Hunter boots are office approved and can even be worn on a night out.

Style 101: How To Integrate Florals Into Your Wardrobe

If you’re a girly girl like me, florals are a must have no matter what season it is. Since florals are a huge trend this spring, I wanted to show you ladies how to integrate this Motel Pacey T-Shirt Blouse into your wardrobe. I love this top because it is so versatile and it’s so different than most of the floral blouses I have seen. You definitely don’t have to be a girly girl to rock this top. I’ll show you how to style this top in different styles-edgy, girly, and sporty.

I love this Edgy look because each individual piece can add a little bit of funkiness to any outfit that is already in your closet.

This Girly outfit is so delicate, simple, and of course it has to have a little bit of sparkle! If you're not sure how to add a touch of girliness to an outfit, start with a piece of statement jewelry like these gorgeous Baublebar earrings.

It is so on trend right now to pair soft, feminine patterns and silhouettes with sporty shoes! Instead of pairing heels with your skater skirt, give those feet a break and throw on some chic Nike Dunks. Oh and BTW, Rebecca Minkoff is having its Friends & Family Event. All orders are 25% with the code: RMFAM! But Hurry! The event ends 3/24.

Hope you were inspired to try something new xo

Style 101: How To Pick the Perfect Clutch

Ladies,

So lately I have been absolutely obsessed with clutches. Oversized, beaded, fold-over, envelope, box, and even woven. You name it-I love it. Clutches are just so easy and a fun way to spice up a simple outfit. And there's just something so sophisticated about a clutch. Now that spring is here (or slowly trying to appear in Texas), I've seen clutches in so many different shapes, colors, and textures. I recently purchased this simple, yet super chic, Whistles Clutch from ASOS. I love the texture and the crisp white! It'll be hard not to pair this with basically every outfit in my closet-but remember, it's all about changing it up every now and then. Getting back to topic...clutches are definitely in right now and in my opinion, they're a classic. And a tip for stretching your buck is to buy clutches with a chain so that you can dress it down and wear it as a crossbody! It's basically two bags for the price of one! Below, I put some of my favorites at all different price points! P.S. Right now, thanks to St. Patty's Day, ASOS, is giving customers 20% off all full priced items-just enter the code: LUCKYDUCK at the checkout.

For my Statement Makers: When wearing all-over patterned, sequined, or studded clutches, I personally like to keep them small in size so that they don't overpower my outfit or look too gaudy.

Lovers of Simplicity: A simple fold-over, envelope, or zip-top clutch does not equal boring! Try a vibrant color, textured pattern, or even fringes/tassles.

Pretty Pastels: Since pastel colors are the biggest trend right now, why not?! If you aren't sure a current trend will match your personal style, try it out one baby step at a time. Start with smaller pieces that cost less and build your wardrobe from there.

Hope you guys were inspired to try something new! xo

Style 101: Introduction

Fashionistas,

I know what you're probably thinking...yet another fashion blog? Believe it or not, this is my third attempt creating a blog-but they say third time's a charm right? I wanted to create something beyond the usual "dress up in ultra chic outfits and take pictures" type of blog. And that's where Jayda's Style Handbook came about. I wanted to create a fashion guide for women of all sizes and shapes who dress in totally different styles. Jayda's Style Handbook will include How-To segments, looks for less, basic style necessities and fashion guidelines for various occasions and environments. At this point you're probably wondering what makes me the style expert-well I'm definitely not but I do have a knack for fashion and spotting out trends. I hope you guys enjoy my blog! I'm excited to share some of my personal fashion favorites!

Sincerely,

Jayda
