As I sit here watching the entire Gossip Girl series for the 50th time, [no exaggeration] I can't help but admire the character, Blair Waldorf as a fashion icon. Leighton Meester as Blair Waldorf was styled with such glamour and grace-and Queen B mastered the art of mixing different styles. If I'm sounding like a Gossip Girl super fan, it's because I am. The show's stylist and costume designer, Eric Daman, was a genius and his creations really brought each character to life. Watching the show definitely helped me find and mature my own personal style. And from my recent Gossip Girl marathon, I developed a few New Years resolutions to dress with a purpose, wear more skirts and dresses, and shop for even more unique pieces.
And one of those resolutions has always been a goal for me-shopping for unique pieces. I try to fill my closet with special pieces, whether it's a bold color, flattering silhouette, or over-the-top embellishments. And remember, these statement pieces do not have to be expensive, they just have to make an impression. I found this unique trench coat about a year ago. The texture is what sold me. The satin material adds richness to any outfit-even a pair of skinny jeans. And the girly peplum flare is so me!
When shopping for clothing that makes an impression, think of your personal style. Each unique piece should complement items you already own-but it should add a boost to your outfit. Find that neon pink blazer that turns your favorite white tee and black jeans outfit you've had on repeat into a showstopper.
Hope you were inspired to try something new! xo
